It’s b en so long since I read a book that scared me to to my very core. The troop definitely did the trick.

Not only was it a terrifyingly no story but the character relationships were so well thought out and complex, making every page of it captivating.

I have found my new go to recommendations here!

really intense, but really enjoyable. it’s not a happy read and definitely not for the squeamish—lots of body mutilation and some animal murder. but the story was interesting throughout, and you got to know each character so well.

DNF after 70 pages.

Was hoping for Lord of the Flies meets Who Goes There? (The story The Thing is based on). Not at all. I will say, the language is masterful and the dialogue is great, but...

This book is filled with seemingly unnecessary flashbacks and flash forwards. I was expecting more twists and turns. Nope. There’s so little build up or normalcy, it seems blasé when it gets crazy. There’s none of the paranoid, “Who’s infected?” vibe I wanted. It wasn’t bad enough to abandon, but not good enough to be exciting to come back to.

6 stars, amazing ✨

"Thinner" meets "Lord of the Flies" meets "The Strain"

Absolutely terrifying!

A friend of mine has told me repeatedly how disturbing this man’s books are and I finally got around to reading one this summer. I read an ARC of The Handyman Method and knew I had to read more. The Troop is her favourite so was an obvious next pick. So good!

I was in the edge of my seat the entire time. The bit of mystery, the gripping suspense, the horrific, disturbing scenes (one of which I actually had to skip). I read it in a day. I can’t wait to read another one by Cutter.

Definitely check your trigger warnings on this one.
