I definitely enjoyed Veronica's storytelling more than Linsey's. I feel like I got more depth with Damian and Neve. I will say that the big reveal/big betrayal wasn't really a big deal to me. I don't see how Damian hiding
Spoilerthat he released the djinn in the first place
was supposed to make me hate him or side with Neve. I'd be sour and miffed, but I thought it was immature of Neve to think Damian would literally spill all his secrets to her, an Order agent. They're on opposite sides of the law, so I find it odd that she'd think he'd just fess up to everything. Considering how "evil" he's supposed to be, I thought he was a good guy. I feel like the problem with both Veronica and Linsey's characters is that they're upset and hold years long grudges over small lies and there's no reasoning with their MC. It's only right or wrong, there's no rhyme or reason. It's a nice read to pass the time, but I'm not sure how far into the series I'll get.

Awesome

I thought this was great! I love the world building and I thought it was cool to see Nevaeh again! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I tried liking this book. I’ve enjoyed all the Linsey Hall books I’ve read but I just couldn’t get into this one. I missed the POV of the hero. We only ever heard Neve’s POV. I didn’t really get a feel for Damion. I don’t know what he’s about or who he is. Neve is a half djinn who is just learning her magic. I think part of me was confused at her powers. I didn’t quite understand it. Overall I just didn’t connect with the book or the characters.

“When you’ve been kicked out of heaven, everything seems to be a bit of a cruel joke.”

Neveah Cross works for the Order of Magica, but she has a secret she’s been keeping. Criminal (and fallen angel) Damien Malek knows her secret and uses it to enlist Neveah’s help to retrieve something he’s lost.

This was a fun, fast paced read! Lots of twists and turns that kept me wanting more. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

Hero or antihero?

This was a quick paced read with some heat between the two main characters. I'm still not entirely sure about whether Damien is good or evil but I enjoyed the chemistry between he and Nevaeh.
Nevaeh's development throughout is a little slap dash as she can suddenly access her powers and use them at will, despite having purposely avoided them for years. However, I liked that she still makes mistakes, which saves her from being too unbelievable and I am curious to see how she develops.

I always find Linsey Hall's books to be intriguing and enjoyable. I enjoy the books that she cro-wrote with Veronica Douglas as well. The archeology influence is always strong in them and intriguing.

Incredible addition to the Dragons Gift World

I was incredibly excited for this book and tying it back into Linsey Halls OG Dragons Gift world . I was immediately intrigued and wanted both characters to have there own books when they were first introduced in the Shadow Guild
series and this book DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. With the combination of Linsey Hall and Veronica Douglas an incredible story was produced. Linsey Hall has always been a one click author for me and after this book Veronica Douglas will most certainly be one too!! Thankfully book 2 will be released in April and I am on pins and needles excited! If your on the fence and not sure if you wanna give this a try.... take the plunge. The story is faced paced with tons of action, mystery and adventure (with a hint of romance and surely foreshadows what’s your come;) ) and keeps you interested every step of the way. Just do it! This book is absolutely worth it.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review!
