I really loved this book. It was emotional in all the right ways, and had moments of humor, and I could barely put it down. This one is going to be sticking in my brain for a while.

๐ This was a very touching story with a lot of emotional moments. I enjoyed the vignettes and the whole thing was very affirming, particularly of trans lives. And eldest daughter syndrome transcending gender is the realest.
๐ง Single POV, 3rd person, one trans masc narrator.
๐ถ๏ธ 1.5/5 There was technically some sexytimes on page, but all the details were obfuscated and it wasn't at all spicy the way it was done, more factual.
โ๐ฝ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ There's a lot of good representation in this book. The MC is a bisexual trans man. He and his family members are Jewish and have pretty deep roots in the Jewish community and customs. So is his love interest. Amongst the MC's friends, we have trans, lesbian, gay, and ace representation. I think sooner of those friends are POC but I don't remember the specifics.

This book was very diverse and inclusive. It was also dependant on situations that kept popping up, that were simply dropped in. It was not organic or fluid. There was no comeuppance for characters that deserved it, simply to have the book end in a neat bow.

Sweet, wholesome, poignant. A lovely lqbtqia+ novel where, although it is a theme of the book, it is an aspect and not the focus or the purpose of the book. It feels like we are following Ezra, and these topics are part of his story, rather than the story being about these topics and Ezra happening to appear as well, if that makes sense.
Iโve somehow been falling into these wholesome, slightly spicy books with a twist on reality and Iโm not actually mad about it. Another very feel good book and I really thought it was very well written and incredibly intriguing.

I overall enjoyed this book, and the elements were good: complicated family dynamics that everyone actually works on, queer friend group that doesnโt act toxic, interesting paranormal element, jewish and trans representation. I liked the relationship trajectory and the lack of dramatics in the conflict. the plot and the resolution with some of the ghosts left me a little unsatisfied. I guess I just expected for there to be more of a reason behind the grandfather (zayde) sticking around, and also wanted some more resolution of his relationship with the main character.
