This really didn’t feel like it suffered at all from second book syndrome. There is so much revealed in this book and most of it is terrifying.
Penryn really gained depth in this story. Penryn was all about finding her sister in ANGELFALL and now she isn’t sure she likes what she has become. Who wouldn’t be a little afraid after that scene with the family feeding people to their kid? She gets face to face with the person responsible for changing Paige and her restraint is something to be admired.
Penryn also struggled so much with her relationship with her mother, and in this book her mother is off the deep end crazy. Penryn sees her mother doing all kinds of things supposedly for her children and she blows most of it off. I liked the idea of her mother’s crazy that this book suggests.
The big dilemma in this story is how far people will go to survive. Also, this is what survival looks like after some crazy doctor gets a hold of you. What is living if you are separated from the ones you love? What is still worth fighting for when the whole world has gone primal?
Penryn and Raffe’s situation gets more muddled. I might be one of the few people who didn’t want them together. She is 17, he is like an immortal angel. I liked that this would-be romance kept me on my toes and never let me forget how different they are. Also, it never overshadowed the story. They make a great fighting team and that is awesome. They also have witty batter between them.
I really enjoyed this book, and the secrets it revealed. There are still so many questions. I am hoping all will be revealed in this next book.

Not quite as good as the first, but still acceptable. Penryn's a great character and I like how morally complex some of the characters are. It does sometimes feel as though she is a bit of a MarySue.

Yikes! It’s really difficult posting a review for a sequel without spoiling the previous book. I read Angelfall a year ago, I wasn’t a huge fan, but I thought I’d give the series another try…
My experience with Young Adult/Paranormal Romances over the past few years has been very… “Meh”. Uninspiring. Maybe it’s because I’m finally “growing up”? Maybe it’s because YA is repetitive? Who knows.
World After was fast paced, yet it was EXTREMELY hard to stay interested… If that makes any sense at all to anyone else.
This book had a serious case of middle book syndrome, The only action was about five pages long, and that was at the end… and it was shortly after Raffe got back in the picture.
I had a difficult time connecting to the characters. Sure Penryn is a “great” heroine (trying to save her family and others), but she’s not very interesting. There definitely needs to be more of Penryn’s mother. I would love it if Susan Ee wrote from Penryn’s mother’s point of view, I want to get inside her head!
This series has a lot of potential, I’m on the fence whether or not I should continue reading.

I loved the first book. This one, just kinda so-so. It had a lot of scenes that felt unnecessary. Which made it take forever for the story to progress. Also, not enough Raffe. He's an integral character and he was absent most of the book.
On a super nitpicky note: why why WHY were the chapters broken up like that? It'd be the middle of a scene and then bam! End of chapter. Picks up right where the previous ended. It made no sense at all and completely hindered the flow. :(

Fascinating addition to a great series! A very exciting book! I was very surprised by Paige, and loved how her character is developing! Great story!
I'm really confused as to what happened...
Angelfall was a wonderful book, I loved it. I loved the plot, the characters, and the writing. It's one of my favorite books, and my favorite books with angels in it. I was so excited to get the second book and couldn't wait to read it, but that's when it all fell apart. Ugh! The writing went downhill, fast. I found I really, really didn't like the main character. The plot sort of wasn't there, it felt like a lot of running around but not a lot to show for it.
Miss Ee ended up with a sequel that was busy and flat. A lot going on, but not enough substance for it to matter to me. Important plot points felt rushed and at times ridiculous. I feel like there was a twist somewhere in this book, but I don't know if I missed it, or IF I found it I just found it so outlandish and childish I wasn't moved by it.
Also, it needed a good editor. I can't tell you how many books I've read that could have been better if the author just went over them with a good red pen once or twice. This read like a first draft.
Don't know if I'm going to read the last book or not, :/

You can say all you want about angel books but this book is a freaking masterpiece!
This series is so fucking fantastic. Damn. Damn damn damn.
adventurous
challenging
dark
emotional
tense
fast-paced
These characters do NOT get a break. Things are even more twisted and a lot has still to be unearthed about the real WHY behind how this dystopia came to be. I was hoping for some more conspiracy and larger ties to biblical tellings, but I'm rooting for Penryn, Raffe and little Paige and am looking forward to seeing how everything plays out in the final book.
