An interesting variation.

Told from Darcy's point of view in the first person present tense, this alone makes the story unique. At first I found it a bit jarring, but upon reflection, it starts with a murder and with everything askew so it makes sense that even the tense feels wrong.

The mystery was good and I really enjoyed Darcy getting pulled into the investigation, becoming a surprisingly talented investigator and actually starting to enjoy himself. The murders themselves were intriguing and the plot made sense when all was revealed.

I think the mystery part of the story was much stronger than the romance. Due to the nature of it being told from Darcy's perspective alone, we have no idea what was going through Elizabeth's mind and why/when she changed her mind about Darcy. While I enjoyed the scenes between Darcy and Elizabeth, they were almost secondary to the murder mystery at the heart of it all.

I would have preferred a bit more romance, but overall a very good read.
