Mostly helpful. There's something to be said of a society in which the goal is to maximize every minute of our day through time-saving techniques, new technological advances, and proper daily triage. But typically those things are implemented in order that we save time to... do more stuff. For Christian, we (ought) celebrate the Lord's day every Sunday and it is a needful and important time of rest from our worldly duties. As DeYoung points out here, we can easily become addicted to our work and our toils to the point where we supplant the primary goal and tasks that we are seeking to accomplish. There is nothing groundbreaking here, or anything that you likely haven't already heard elsewhere, but the message is true and easy to comprehend.

It's taken some time, but I think my husband and I are finally on the same page when it comes to adding events to the calendar app.
(Likely due to my persistent questioning, "did you add it to the calendar?")
The usual activities we don't put up, but anything out of the ordinary needs to get on. This includes my work shifts, hockey schedule, family dinners, and appointments. I just know I won't remember things unless I've got it showing up on my phone.
So, as you've likely surmised. We're busy.
That's why Crazy Busy by Kevin DeYoung is such an important read for me. I've read it twice and it will likely be an annual read for as long as I remain...busy.
Purpose:
In this mercifully short book ;) the author helps us identify different areas we are tangled in busyness, leading us to consider the implications both in our outer and inner world.
Summary:
The first two chapters introduce us to the realities of our busy lives and three dangers we’re at risk for. Then he takes us through 7 areas where our busyness impacts our Christian life. Lastly, but most importantly, he visits the one thing we must do and prioritize above all else.
I’ll admit, I usually enjoy a study guide or reflection questions to go along with the chapters, so it’s almost a little disappointing this one didn’t have it, BUT I found a free study guide published by Crossway, so if you’re getting the book grab the study guide here.
My Recommendation:
If you’re planning for the new year, grab this book!
If you’ve ever said you’re busy, buy it.
It’s a short, purposeful book to help you pull back the layers of a busy life to help you discover and prioritize how you want to live. Don’t forget about the study guide if you’re doing this as a group or appreciate more content.

DeYoung does a great job exploring the problem of busyness. It's entertaining and filled with a ton of good practical applications for everyday life. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Though I have made some drastic changes to address the crazy busy in my life, this was a helpful read in refocusing and addressing the heart issues that have led me there in the first place.

The title pretty well sums it up! Love how this author isn't about offering time saving tips, but dives into the logic behind why we are trying to frantically cram more into each day.
Book Review: Crazy Busy: A (Mercifully) Short Book about a (Really) Big Problem by Kevin DeYoung - it really is a fairly short book, not about avoiding busyness but about focusing on what it important so that you eliminate the things that distract you from your real callings.

Glad I finished this before the end of the year and start making 2018 goals! Good read for thinking through priorities and lifestyle choices and keeping the main things, the main things. He does a good job of tackling busyness in various life stages and callings.
An engaging book, that is only not rated higher because it felt like conclusions I could probably have reached myself (although the question of whether I actually would have is always valid) and also because there wasn't anything in particular that I thought 'Yes! I am definitely going to apply that to my life.'
