The last two chapters make the whole book. Worth reading for good insight on a biblical understanding of time and rhythms.

I've been wanting to give this book a try for about a year--ever since several of my Goodreads friends read [b:Crazy Busy|17152690|Crazy Busy A (Mercifully) Short Book about a (Really) Big Problem|Kevin DeYoung|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1405288296s/17152690.jpg|23572309] and [b:Just Do Something|5466804|Just Do Something A Liberating Approach to Finding God's Will|Kevin DeYoung|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328823060s/5466804.jpg|5534410] and gave the books rave reviews. When I found Crazy Busy for 99 cents on Kindle, it was a no brainer buy.

I liked this book for it's simplicity and brevity. Chapter Four and the topics related to it rubbed me a bit of the wrong way (talking about different things Christians can get involved in and encouraging Christians not to feel pressured to be active in all of them). Obviously that concept is necessary, but having seen a lot of the opposite problem, I tend to be wary of that viewpoint. That said, when understood in the context of the rest of the book (particularly chapter 9), it makes healthy, Biblical sense.

All in all, I enjoyed reading this book and am likely to recommend it to several friends who I think would also enjoy it and might benefit from it. Can't say I feel overly inspired to make changes in my life the way I do after reading some books, but maybe that's because doing more is easier for me to stomach than doing less. Some of the principles in this book--like being purposeful, forming healthy habits rather than living helter-skelter, and being careful to avoid addiction to social media--are all things I would like to improve upon. Hopefully having read this will add to my toolbox in reaching those goals.

Basic, but good. I especially liked the parenting chapter.

“Busyness does not mean you are a faithful or fruitful Christian. It only means you are busy, just like everyone else. And like everyone else, your joy, your heart and your soul are in danger.”

“Jesus understood his mission. He was not driven by the needs of others, though he often stopped to help hurting people. He was not driven by the approval of others, though he cared deeply for the lost and the broken. Ultimately, Jesus was driven by the Spirit. He was driven by his God-given mission. He knew his priorities and did not let the many temptations of a busy life deter him from his task.”

A great little audiobook while doing housework! I didn't find it particularly captivating or deep... But it was a needed reminder for me to think through the heart attitudes, choices, and priorities that lead to being "crazy busy" — and to consider what is truly most important as we seek to honor the Lord with our lives.

The hubby and I read this one together over our anniversary weekend. We had some great discussions after each chapter (sometimes in the middle of the chapter too). This would be a great book to study as a group or a couple. It would be good by yourself as well. Rethink about what makes you busy.

I thought this book was so baller, it needs to be on everyone's reading list.
DeYoung does so well at being relatable, yet is still very honest about the realities of our normalized "crazy busy" lives. I also loved that it was a quick read! He gets to the point and says what's needed, and communicates it in an understandable and clear way.

An engaging book, that is only not rated higher because it felt like conclusions I could probably have reached myself (although the question of whether I actually would have is always valid) and also because there wasn't anything in particular that I thought 'Yes! I am definitely going to apply that to my life.'
