WHEW!!! This book is full of action, danger, alien intrigue, passion, more romance than I expected to see, and unexpected elements of humor that were well placed. Kean is actually a very honorable guy, and from the moment he rescues Sarah, he’s a goner, especially when he realizes she’s his mate. Sarah goes through a lot of different emotions while getting to know Kean, but her chemistry with him is the one constant that helps move her towards the inevitable HEA that is waiting if she allows it. This was my 1st book in this series, so I had a bit of catching up to do, but it didn’t take long to figure things out. The book can be easily enjoyed as a stand-alone story. This is a truly entertaining story from beginning to end!

I am a sensitive reader. There is a reason I read, almost exclusively, romance. This story comes with trigger warnings for violence, though it is carefully written and, I believe, not provoking UNLESS you have an actual experience that will activate you. That being said, there is violence both on and off the page and those for whom it is a trigger will want to avoid it.

I enjoyed the personal mental strength of the female lead. She had persevered with an abusive past owner, dealing damage to him where she could. Her ongoing strength, even when she is safe, is appealing.

The male lead’s feelings of inferiority were interesting, given his power, but valid when his history was taken into consideration. I enjoyed that he was willing to engage with the female lead’s concerns and to actively incorporate her into his decision making process.

Their individual and relationship development was thoughtful and I enjoyed the changes over time. The story was dual POV, well written, and a great addition to the series. I’m really looking forward to the next one!
