Extremely dark with some real raw & f*cked up characters. I found this book to be extremely disturbing which made for a fantastic thriller. Family dynamics are messy in real life & Gillian portrays that reality so well in her novel. As well in reality everyone has a past, everyone has a part of themselves that is seriously messed up that we try to hide from everyone else. We see a lot of that in each main character & the roles they play in the plot.
