Of course I love Tessa and Hardin- I’m obsessed with them and their turbulent relationship and I’m used to the constant breaking up and getting back together. But this book was too much- they were hardly ever together - just hooking up and then not seeing each other again for weeks or months. There was some good plot twists and I LOVE Hardin’s character development in this book but what the hell is up with the constant time jumps near the end? There must’ve been like 7 or 8 time jumps.. it ruined the flow of the story and I would’ve preferred maybe one time jump where they’re married and she’s pregnant and I would be happy with knowing they were starting a life together- not just hearing little tidbits here and there from like 10 years in the future. Regardless I love them together lol

All of my thoughts from After 2 and After 3 STILL apply to this book entirely. This book begins on the same scene where the last one ended and then it goes back to the same thing, again and again and again. But with this time more ridiculous drama and a happy ending!

WHERE OH WHERE IS MY HARDIN SCOTT? Hopefully in fucking prison where he belongs. This dude is actually insane, seriously. He BURNS DOWN A HOUSE and no one even blames him and they all want to protect him? WHY? He'll never learn his actions have consequences. Not surprising at all but none of the people in his life tell him he needs serious professional help either.

I feel like this is just a big joke at this point. This author has written an abusive relationship perfectly and it is actually gross how she romanticizes it so badly. At this point in the series, Tessa is used to his violent outburst and they don't shock her anymore. Tessa even questions if what they have is abusive but of course Hardin gaslights and shuts her down. He even starts going off about how people don't know the difference between an abusive relationship or an unhealthy one. Guess what asshole- there is no difference. I really don't get how saying your relationship is unhealthy is any better either? It isn't up to you to fix the other person in your relationship and if you are in this kind of thing, you have to get out.

There is a part later on in this book where they break up (yet again!) but it lasts for longer. Funny enough, they both end up doing well without each other. Interesting huh. Sometimes relationships don't work out and moving past it is fine and even healthier. But of course they end up back together because true love!! It was just so sad to see Tessa questioning their relationship but still going back to him. I got super tired just reading it, I can't imagine living this kind of "romance" and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I didn't expect this series to get into this kind of territory but of course it did because why not do everything possible to piss me off? Even though Tessa is 19 years old in a messy relationship where she probably isn't planning on kids anytime soon, she goes to the doctor to learn more about how she'll have extreme difficulty having children. Infertility issues are such an awful trend just for more drama, especially when it wasn't even needed in this book?? Stop having women have fertility issues just so they can beat the odds and have a couple of miracle babies. That idea is disgusting and I never want to see it again.

The slutshaming in this book is unreal. Tessa ends up going off and calling other girls whores and sluts because?? When you let your personal opinion about other women having sex or just wearing clothes you don't like slip into your writing. *Sips tea*

The book gets super meta because Hardin apparently has been writing a book (titled After because of course) that is all about their romance. He says it has their struggles but it also has their laughs and fun moments. What? I read this entire damn series and I didn't see any fun moments. This ENTIRE series has just been a constant bitchfest of fighting, having sex, and abuse but you're trying to say it was cute too? Oh hell no. HELL NO.

Then I think it just switches to the author lecturing us about real relationships and how After shows the realness and hardships, how people can relate (yeah people in abusive and toxic relationships sure can) and literally an entire page about how epic they are and just shut up. This is disgusting and has been the entire time. She can write as many words as she wants but that will not take away that Hardin has been an abuser and an asshole since DAY ONE.

Of course they end up together. Sure Hardin apparently fixes himself (lol sure) and it time skips but they still end up together. I hate it. I hate this entire series so much. At least the author stayed consistent: this book was as shitty as all the rest and she romanticizes abuse until the bitter end.

Hardin and Tessa are the most toxic book couple I have ever read about holy sh*t! They break up and get back together like 70 times across the 4 books it’s actually madness!

Like at some point you gotta call the quits and realise the relationship was done… right?

Anywho, this book was not short for drama, breakups and makeups, and obviously they got their happy ending… finally!

I felt like this one dragged on a little bit but I still appreciate how Anna Todd is able to tell their story so I’m giving it 4 stars still. I love how the characters developed and matured. There was accountability and change and I’m all for that. It also showed that love is not always cookie cutter and even “after everything” people can still find each other.

loved this series (,: i didn’t see anything coming that did! i was a little disappointed that the happily ever after part of the book was so rushed, considering how detailed every other moment of their relationship was, but it was cute. so good and so happy to see them with their own little family. loved it
