this book had more action and more stuff going on than the other 2, which, for me, makes this book the best out of the trilogy

however, I still don’t understand the overflowing love for this series. I have only read this far because I was interested in the plot it presented (although the way of doing so was too dense and slow for my liking), but I was really disappointed by the ending. It felt really anticlimactic, with so many things happening and the resulting situation being so average and predictable

yes, the system is interesting and the dilemmas in the books represent the current state of society, especially with the surge of AI, but I was underwhelmed with how everything unfolded and the way it was told

The book had a very strong ending but it took a while to get to that strong ending and it took me a while to get truly invested in the book but I love the endings each of my favorite characters got

I wish the Thunderhead was real, to be honest.

The last part of the trilogy! I still love the setting and world, and the Thunderhead of course, but I did get a bit bored of the characters. The main characters were all seperated and all over the place, so the side characters got a lot more attention. Which is fine, I was just way less invested. The writing was still great, but this book was too long in my opinion. It had a very slow start and it dragged on for a while. When it finally got going, the plot was quite interesting and there were some unhinged moments in this one. I liked the insanity, not gonna lie.

Overall, 4/5

This was a solid third and final installment. I enjoyed the continued exploration of an ethical AI overlord. While I like how the story wrapped up plot wise, I didn’t love how the last 20 pages were executed. I think it failed to end Citra and Rowan’s lines meaningfully, in particular.

A well-rounded series with a good level of world-building for this type of YA sci-fi. Noticeably USA-centric, especially when care was evidently taken to incorporate indigenious place names and historical figures in some regions and not others. An interesting read.

Ahh I wish there was more to the ending! Lots of great elements to the way this all concluded but still felt like it was missing something.
Goddard’s end was a little less than satisfying, and so was citra and Rowan’s reunion
. Still great but I wish there was more to it. All around though super intriguing story and thoroughly enjoyable read.

A fabulous finale to the trilogy!
