Again, really like the world and the characters, but I didn't actually love the romance in this book. I thought H was an asshole, and never really redeemed himself. I just hate a cheater, and I didn't understand how h was just so forgiving and pining after him.
Plot:
- H wakes up in a dungeon after being abducted while out in the ambulance. He finds h, a human that he had a former fling with before she found him cheating on her. He is cursed to fade into nothing if he falls in love, so he has remained detached from everyone he's slept with.
- h was heartbroken by him, and as she left his place, she got attacked by a werewolf (I think its called warg? here) and became one. Her older brother Roag found her, and luckily he's part of a military group that deals with that, getting her medical help. They experiment on her, and she is able to transition at will whenever she wants in addition to the days she has to during the full moon.
- Unfortunately, his sister gets murdered, and he finds out that Roag, they all believed was dead, is holding him captive and behind the organ harvesting.
- The older brother wants revenge on his brothers because he believes that one of them helped the agency attack him. So, he uses his mind powers and makes H and h into having sex and completing the mate bond.
- They manage to escape right before h is about to turn, and he brings her to his cave home. In the process, she ends up killing Roag's love.
- He goes to the hospital to get his brothers' help when he also turns. Turns out she got him infected and he is also a werewolf.
- He gets back to her, and sees that she doesn't have a mate bond, worrying him because he needs sex to survive, and can only have sex with her from now on.
- Because of his curse, his brothers want to kill her, but he won't let them.
- H tries to keep his distance to not fall in love, but they keep having mind blowing angry sex.
- H goes through his s'genesis (sexual maturing and then changing), and h is there for him, and telling him to take what he needs. The next day, H wakes up upset that he forced her, but h reassures him that he didn't. After they have sex again, H notice that his hands start flickering and that his curse has been activated.
- He learns that her brother is in the military, and she was sent after him to learn more about the demon hospital. He also learns that they experimented on her, which is why she can shift at will and why he got infected when he should have been immune.
- H tries to distance himself from h, which only hurts her.
- h learns that the bond is one sided, but she assures him that she won't leave him, and that she loves him. In fact, she never stopped, she was just hurt when he cheated. This just makes it even harder for H to keep his distance and not care about her.
- h overhears H talking to his brothers and how they planned on killing her. Betrayed, she runs away and finds herself getting chased by Roag. However, she gets away and H finds her. Then, the demon version of cops appear and accuse H of murdering h's sire (it was actually Roag), but they run away to his cave.
- h begs H to fuck her and use his torture methods on her, needing an escape from the guilt of breaking up her family. H has been compelled to do this to other females before her due to his nature from his mother's side, but he has never wanted to hurt h like this. However, because of the mate bond, he has no choice, and is compelled to whip her. As it escalates, he begs her to stop, but she refuses, so he fights himself and whips himself instead. His pain registers in his brothers, who go to him, and find him and his BDSM bedroom. They stop him from himself, and get h to say the safe word and stop it all. H fades more, as he realizes he would sacrifice himself to save her.
- They are captured by Roag who finds their cave, and they get tortured. He's already fading, and the grief of watching h get tortured just makes him fade more. However, h's brother rescues them and yells out that H can transfer his curse to loved ones (which he already knew) and family members. So, he transfers the curse to Roag, effectively defeating him, and allowing them to escape.
- It's a full moon, and h gets in heat, which attracts a bunch of other werewolves that H then fights off before claiming h. He gets her pregnant during this, which causes her to finally bond with him. She has triplets and HEA.

Since I lost all my reviews, I'm trying to reread some of my favorites books/series in order to review them and Desire Unchained is definitely one of my favorite book. I adore Larissa Ione, her writing style is exactly how I like it, her characters are amazing and the universe she created is pretty cool.
Desire Unchained is Shade's story with Runa. I adore Shade, I adore Runa and I adore them together. The sex: amazing, especially after Runa's transformation (she's a werewolf). I love their story, it was completely believable, I fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other. Shade is one hot motherfucker, seriously, HOT.
I love the relationship he has with his brothers, especially with Wraith. It's beautiful and makes you love him even more...and Wraith as well. Let's not forget Eidolon though, because he is pretty great!

Desire Unchained is Shade's story with Runa. I adore Shade, I adore Runa and I adore them together. The sex: amazing, especially after Runa's transformation (she's a werewolf). I love their story, it was completely believable, I fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other. Shade is one hot motherfucker, seriously, HOT.
I love the relationship he has with his brothers, especially with Wraith. It's beautiful and makes you love him even more...and Wraith as well. Let's not forget Eidolon though, because he is pretty great!

Overall an excellent addition to the series that I enjoyed as much as the first one.
I’m not going to lie. This book took me forEVER to finish. Unlike the first one, which I literally devoured in a 24 hour period, this was was broken up over many days (I finished the last 40% of it in the same day).
I think at first I was a bit hesitant about the book, but that evaporated in the last section of reading. It was so good and sweet and just… I really do enjoy this series. It is definitely one of my favorite paranormal romances out there.
Shad and Runa were just… I liked them a lot once they got over their issues (which of course needs to happen in any romance). We also get to see other characters make a return. Kynan and Gem in particular were interesting. I am curious to see what happens there. And with Wraith! We mustn’t forget about him! I know his book is next and I’m eager to delve into it.
All in all great book. Would read again. Would recommend. Runa got a bit annoying (very small amount), but that is the reason it got 4 stars instead of 5.

I was worried in the beginning because the premise is too similar the first book (and the title is still embarrassing), but the plot came around eventually. I think I've had enough demon romance for now.

I didn't like this second book in the Demonica series as well as the first. This was a little more predictable and a little less substantive. Runa and Shade just weren't that interesting to me. I'll still give book 3 a try though.

People I tried, I tried. Really. This one is better than the first one, so the stars are really 2.5. Yes, I still realize I AM THE ONLY PERSON WHO DOES NOT LIKE THESE BOOKS. I am sorry, really I am. They just do nothing for me.
