It was a slow book in the beginning. I had moments where I thought this book is amazing, but after finishing, I have decided that I’m not 100% loving this book. I personally don’t like books that skips time (eg 5 years later). I need all the action happening in the normal course of time. If she gets pregnant, I want to read it and not years later.

I love the emotional depth that Penelope Douglas’ books have.
Are they kinda fucked up? Yes.
But I find that we very often omit how beautifully these kinds of books still portray the characters’ troubles and traumas, specifically in the case of books by Penelope Douglas (this is at least the case for Punk 57 credence, the only two books I’ve read by Penelope)

Ok, Omg this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. I can totally see why some people hate this book but for me…… how do I say this? Basically I hated this book at a lot of parts buuttt, they redeemed themselves with the ending. I think that Kaleb was the best choice for her and I’m really glad it wasn’t Jake

I think it was about 3/4 through that I stopped liking it.

I don’t like the idea of her fucking them all and then ending up with just one of them. I think if anything she should’ve ended up on the mountain forever with Noah AND Kaleb. Or at least give me more than one sex scene with them all together

I swear if she didn't end up with Kaleb this would have been a 1 star. I can't say I liked the ending or the development of the story but it is what it is. I hated her and her whole personality, I just finished it because I wanted to know more about Kaleb. Also I felt sorry about Noah, he was basically just there.

There was so much trauma Bonding here that it was hard to keep up. I personally want a fan of the Jake dynamic. Im not anti age gap but a not yet legal, traumatized teen and a grown ass man? He should have restrained himself. Of course she was jumping at the first sign of affection. I’m not on the train for this book but I do love her writing and even though I didn’t connect with the story I was still kept engaged. I was fortunate to snag this while in a freebie sale.

Overall it was a good storyline. The taboo part of the plot wasn’t really necessary but I guess that’s just how PD rolls. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone I know but it wasn’t horrible.

tension

Wow the tension in this book was as thick as the fog in an episode of Scooby Doo. This was incredible. I kept seeing recommendations for this on Booktok and finally started it last night and COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I love books with more than one MMC because I like seeing the different ways the FMC responds and reacts to all of them. Toward the end I was like no this can’t be how it ends and then the thing with the tire swing I literally screamed with joy. This book was perfect and I will definitely be reading it again in the future
