Alright, deep breaths. Gentle reminder that sexually fantasizing about a situation is not the same as romanticizing it and especially not the same as wanting it to happen in real life. Y’all really need the boring PSA spelled out every time??
But damn, this author really wanted to fit in as much taboo-lite as possible. It’s a real sample platter. A taboo-terie board, if you will. All of the punches are pulled (it’s a step-uncle and step-cousins, so she’s not related to any of them; he slaps her, but it’s to distract from pain in an emergency; he throws away her birth control, but it’s meant to be sexy and encouraging in a gross breeder way and she’s free to dig them out immediately; there’s one and a half scenes of sharing, but it all unwinds into extremely traditional family roles.) It was an interesting tightrope walk of being edgy, but dialed back as much as possible every time so folks can have their wank and their morals too.
Personally, I didn’t like it as a book and I liked about half of it as erotica. The longing and hesitation and temptation were much sexier than the actual sex scenes once they started coming. I did appreciate that the length of the book allowed for plenty of buildup and anticipation, but it meant the second half was much less enjoyable to me than the first. The hottest scene in the whole book in my opinion was early on in the kitchen and no one even took their clothes off.
All in all, I don’t think this type of story is effective for my personal porn use, but I don’t really judge people who get off to it. I might pick up this author again if a particular plot line catches my eye.

I was hesitant to start this one because I had heard this one was very polarizing. I was determined to go in with an open mind and you know what. I didn’t hate it.
I’ll be honest when I say that sharing between family members is really not my thing so that whole aspect did nothing for me. I’m also staunchly team Noah and the fact that he doesn’t have his own story is criminal. I had a lot of problems with Kaleb’s behavior especially as multiple times it veered into SA territory. I also felt like his character did a real quick 360 at the end and we didn’t even get to see the changes in him happen it was just one minute he was his usual asshole self and the next he was different.
Uncle Jake is another character I’d love to have gone deeper into. He clearly has some growth still to do but his impact on Tiernan was the most profound and important for her character growth. I was completely content however when she moved on from him though it did seem awfully fast.
Overall this book was a gripping read and once I got past the slow start I found myself flying through it. While I don’t totally get the hype for this book the writing was outstanding, the story was captivating and I definitely think it’s worth the read if you’ve got an open mind. It’s definitely not going to be for everyone.
