Powerless

Elsie Silver once again blows me away. I'm in awe of her writing, the way she is able to create a story and characters that are pure and true. Something that is healthy yet passionate and a little bit insane enough to grab our attention. She has seriously outdone herself once again with Powerless.

I have a soft spot for men that appear tough but are soft on the inside, you can imagine that the Eaton men are torture to me. Jasper especially. My heart already broke for him in the earlier books, in this book it downright shattered. He went through so much and yet he keeps on going, he keeps fighting. But it is time that he also learns how to live and not only survive. It is time he finds his peace. In this book we get to experience that journey with him. It is tough journey but wow.

Sloane also deserves a wow. That girl is a firecracker, has an attitude and a spirit made of fire. Yet she was timid, she was pushed into a mold that was not her. We read how she breaks out of that mold, how she stands up for herself and lets herself be. That shit is scary, that shit is hard and yet she did it like the powerhouse she is. I respect the hell out of her.

Also because she was able to say no to the absolute sin of a man that is Jasper. She needed things from him he was not yet able to give, she needed him to talk. Luckily for me Jasper knows how to fucking stand up and choose his Sunny. But I just absolutely loved that little aspect. Their love and passion is clear, but in those moments when they give each other a choice and they choose each other that is when the green flags are being hoisted. Elsie Silver knows how to write a romance we want, how to write spice we need and how to write men we adore. But she also knows how to fix all our little red glflag loving hearts by showing us how good relationships are supposed to be.

This book may not be for anyone. It contained so much feeling/thought texts at the beginning. But it was something for me. Because those texts were meaningful, because they didn't say the same shit again and again (something for which I dnf'ed books). Every single time we came across Sloane or Jasper their feelings they grew a little, they evolved. It has been wonderful watching them and I can't wait to see more of this little dysfunctional family. Winter already has my heart in her claws and I just know Theo will take of it, eventually. It is probably going to be a tough ride.
