This book started slow and picked up speed starting with Act 2. I did not particularly enjoy the first act of the novel, as I felt it was almost excruciatingly sluggish, had excessive exposition prior to any main points, and made Melinda nearly unbearable. However, once the second act began, the pace and circumstances of the story changed, making it more enjoyable for me. At that time, the perspectives of different characters became more interesting, the plot began matching the synopsis, and progress started being made toward resolving the various unresolved conflicts introduced in Act 1. One element of note that I especially liked was how Poeppel utilized different formats and character perspectives to tell the reader certain issues had been fixed and how. This added to the richness of the story and tied up loose ends. Further, the web Poeppel crafts across this community to bring our main characters together was so well done. The way each character starts at a place vastly different than the others but still finds a center with everyone else was captivating and rewarding to process to watch unfold.

Too many characters with varying levels of page time. The main plot point from the summary (here have a baby!) didn't occur until over halfway through. The book was unnecessarily long. I wanted more from so many characters as most had some interesting tidbits but we get the most from a character (Melinda) who is consumed by an unnerving level of rage. I almost DNF'ed.

This likely isn’t the book’s fault, but it’s weird that the hook from the blurb doesn’t really kick off in the plot until over 50% through. It made for an odd reading experience.

I enjoyed getting to know some of the characters and I enjoyed how all the viewpoints wove together.  But at the end of the day, I’m okay being done with the book and I wouldn’t read it again.
