This was light and funny and I enjoyed it! I loved the found family aspect. I enjoy books like this where there are lots of characters and their stories all weave together.
I loved this book, Greenwich Village is one of my favorite places in New York City, It's a magical place especially in the summer..
"The Sweet Spot" is a plot-centered book set in a historic brownstone in Greenwich Village, NYC. The story revolves around Leo and Lauren, a scientist and artist couple, their three energetic children, and their dog. The top floors of the brownstone serve as their residence, while the basement houses a bar called "The Sweet Spot," which has its own separate entrance and a charismatic barkeeper. The building is filled with 1970s wallpaper and furnishings, giving it a dated charm.
Leo and Lauren are eccentric and permissive parents, often struggling to handle their lively children. The bar, with its lively atmosphere, adds another layer of excitement to the story. Romance is a prominent theme throughout the book, but there are also other key characters who play significant roles.
One of the standout characters is grandmother Evelyn, who initially disapproves of her children's unconventional lifestyle. However, during a family emergency, Evelyn takes charge and finds herself becoming an integral part of the household. As the story progresses, she becomes reluctant to leave the brownstone, showcasing her growth and attachment to the family.
With a lot going on, the book offers a glimpse into the lives of the residents of the brownstone, their relationships, and the challenges they face. The mix of eccentricity, romance, and family dynamics makes for an engaging and entertaining read.

The Sweet Spot is the third Amy Poeppel book I’ve read.
This is the story of Olivia, Lauren, Melinda and Evelyn whose worlds and lives become intertwined at Lauren’s brownstone. The bar in the basement, The Sweet Spot, is owned by Olivia’s dad, Dan. In a series of unfortunate events, Melinda ruins Olivia’s job. Then Melinda, believing Lauren has ruined her marriage, sets out to make her life miserable. Evelyn, Lauren’s mother, determines to guide Melinda, Olivia and Lauren’s lives, professionally and personally. There were so many people to keep up with! And that’s Act 1.
Ultimately, this book is about friendship, career, family, and love. It’s about second chances and second (and third) acts in life. It’s about making decisions for yourself and for your family, without fear of consequences. It’s about finding life’s Sweet Spot.

Thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the Astons (and lots of others!) in the dusty old brownstone with the Sweet Spot bar down below. Quirky, heartwarming story that left me chuckling, even when it veered slightly into silly. Streaming soon??? I see Tina Fey as Lauren, maybe?
A fun and interesting read about a quirky, chaotic NYC family and their circle of friends and relatives.
I might have liked it better if I hadn’t read the jacket had wildly different expectations. It was sort of silly and the plot unlikely, but had some funny cute moments. It would probably make a good romantic comedy on Hallmark.
