This was definitely a fun found family book! I'm a big sucker for that trope and this book definitely fits the bill. This book took me a minute to get into, mostly because Melinda was aggravating to me at the beginning (her anger was validated, but WOW, it was a lot), but once I was into it, I sped through it! I really enjoyed watching all of the relationships blossom, both platonic and romantic, all because of Horatio/Hank, who sounds like a very cute baby, by the way. Russell also kinda sucked for 90% of the book, but he came around in the end, as did Felicity, which was fun to watch. Dan was probably my favourite character, and I can't even totally put my finger on it. I suppose I was a sucker for the ship that he was apart of, as well as his willingness to see the good in people, though that was a common theme with all of our main characters. Definitely an enjoyable read!

So… I didn’t love it. I typically love novels with multiple storylines, a big cast of characters, shifting POVs, and a little chaos—but this one just didn’t land for me. Despite all the moving parts, I found myself feeling… bored. I kept waiting for something more—more emotion, more depth, more payoff. It wasn’t bad by any means; it was a pleasant enough read. It just wasn’t it for me.

I really enjoyed this book! So many characters and I love the way they were written so you can see the flaws and growth of each one of them through different eyes.
