I really wanted to like this book. I had been a fan of Jessica and Girls Generation since 2009, so when I finally picked it up I was excited to dive in and see what the hype was about. I found the characters to be pretty one-note and the plot was pretty predictable. Rachel didn't really seem to have a lot of character development, Jason did not seem to have any redeeming qualities and the "mean girls" were your standard K-drama tropes. I think it's going to be a long time before I attempt to pick up the second book.

The book was really good, but I did have a bit of a hard time finishing the book. There were a few scenes that I felt like dragged a bit but other than that I loved it.

As someone who had never read enough books, let alone a fanfic in her life, I enjoyed it. Light read. Just the right amount of escape I need. Nothing too cheesy.

I’m not sure this book really deserves five starts, but I read it in one afternoon and loved it so here we are. This book is no literary masterpiece. It’s total brain candy. Just the kind of book I needed while trying my best to lay around and take it easy today after overdoing it. Let me start off by saying I am not into K-Pop. I know nothing about K-Pop. But the Popsugar Reading Challenge has a prompt this year to read a book about K-Pop and this was my pick. Apparently written by a K-Pop star, Shone is the story of a Korean-American girl who has moved to Korean to play follow her dream of becoming a K-Pop star. There’s a lot of drama in this book Petty, petty drama. There romance, there’s backstabbing, there are plenty of mean girls, and an honest look at how toxic the industry is. However, I had no idea there is a sequel! So be prepared because it has a very unsatisfactory ending. The sequel gets horrible reviews. Will I read it? Yes. Probably later today. 😂
