ohhhhh jessica....
okay so all things considered this wasn't all that bad! predictable and cheesy yes but that's kinda what i expected coming into this book. now we don't know if jessica actually wrote this or if she had a ghostwriter, but either way my points still stand. if you're looking for a "juicy" tell-all about jessica's departure from snsd and sm then you probably won't be satisfied. this book is more of a rightful critique of the idol training process and all the restrictions placed on trainees and idols, as well as the misogyny that women face in the kpop industry. now whether the sequel will follow jessica's deparature, time will only tell but it seems like this book and its multiple female characters are a culmination of jessica's experiences both as a trainee and later as an artist in the industry. the storyline is your average YA romance deal but its these critiques that make the book a little more worthwhile, i will be looking forward to the sequel and hopefully we get those possible film adaptations *fingers crossed*

This book was a really quick audiobook listen and I enjoyed it! It was cute and fun but also showed you the harsh reality of trying to be a Kpop idol. It was so interesting to hear what these girls go through but also made me feel bad for them at the same time. I didn’t want to see anyone getting hurt! I enjoyed this one and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun quick book!

I have been on a roll with the K-pop inspired books here lately. And I'm really enjoying it! However, I would like to see one where all of the female characters were supportive of each other from the get-go instead of all the backstabbing that goes on. But I guess that really isn't realistic, because people really are SAVAGE monsters.
I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it for anyone who's a fan of K-pop

Ruim.

It is not the tell-all book everyone desperately wants it to be. It's a YA book about the crushingly devastating life of a teenage trainee trying to navigate evil corporate and misogynistic system just to survive and live her dream. The main protagonist is a teenage girl so it's understandable that she makes the wrong choices sometimes. So is the antagonist, whose character is built from trying to survive the system as well. It's no doubt a page turner but I personally think the pace could be better and the problems could be more elaborated instead of brushed over as soon as a new problem arises. But maybe that's also a reflection of how chaotic a teenage mind is. I wish there were more of Kang Jina, her character is one of the most important ones in terms of moving the plot and having the key answers to Rachel's current dilemmas. All in all, I hope the unanswered things in this book will be elaborated in the sequel!
I've seen articles and youtube videos trying to relate the antagonist to SNSD member and paint Jessica in a vengeful light but there is no one member that you can connect with Mina, so I wish people would just actually read this book!
