I enjoyed it, but at the end i felt like it was very underwhelming. Hoping the sequel’s gonna solve this problem. And damn, all the tea spilled abt the industry, i wonder how much of this book is actually autobiographical

I just know the story is fiction about idol's life in trainee phase.

Really intense from grey area of k-pop, sue of perfection, unhealthy competition, and fake business strategy that really drive crazy!! mind-opening about idol.

i can't believe this book is real

This book highlights how toxic the kpop industry is and how sexism is a problem too. Rachel puts up with so much bullying and manipulating in order to debut which in my opinion is sad. Rachel makes it seem like this is simply how things are and one must sacrifice almost everything in order to make it in the kpop industry. This message doesn't settle well me.
When writing this I think Jung wanted Rachel's character to come off as strong and motivated. However to me personally Rachel came off as a push over and as someone who lacks agency.
Jung did a good job in shining some light on the problems within the kpop world but didn't offer any solutions as how to fix them or gave any hopes of the industry getting any better. Perhaps that would of made this a much stronger book.~
