What did I just read?? I enjoyed this book. But, I don't think I have read anything like this in a long time. Definitely did not see that end coming. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with a twist, then this is your book.

In my opinion, this was a very poorly executed book. The story itself could have been interesting
(even though the trope of "psychopathic wife tries to make husband look like the crazy one" is already far too prolific), but the book was too long and took itself too seriously. I spotted pretty quickly that the husband wasn't abusive and that the wife wasthe problem, meaning each little "hint" that fell into Louise's lap felt redundant. "OK, I get it, it's the wife", I would think with an eyeroll every time the author dropped yet another hint. I initially didn't understand Adele's plan with the astral projection, but even that I figured out quickly, and then was just waiting for it to finally happen.
Not an impressive "thriller" since I mostly felt bored and wanted to get this one over with.

Super fucking boring and the twist was so stupid I think my IQ suffered.

This book was a wild ride with a twist that absolutely slaps, and honestly, it’s the only reason I’m giving it 3 stars. The pacing felt a little uneven, and the characters were more frustrating than intriguing at times. Louise made some questionable choices, David gave off “gaslight gatekeep” vibes, and Adele… well, I’ll just say what a performance.

But let’s be real: that ending is what this book is known for, and rightfully so. It caught me completely off guard and made me want to flip back through the pages to see what clues I missed. If you're into books that save all their energy for one big jaw-dropper of a reveal, this one’s worth a read. Just be prepared to wade through a slow burn to get there.
