Behind Her Eyes is a psychological thriller that leans into the surreal—and delivers a twist that earns its place in the “WTF That Ending” hall of fame. While I enjoyed the overall experience and found it to be a unique and refreshing story unlike anything else I’ve read, the execution didn’t always work for me.
One thing that pulled me out at times was the use of time jumps and flashbacks. Personally, I prefer a more linear structure, and the disjointed chronology made it harder to stay grounded in the narrative. Interestingly, my wife had watched the Netflix adaptation, and based on what she shared, the show seems to do a better job of seeding clues throughout—whereas the book holds most of its cards until the end. That final reveal did surprise me—especially Rob’s role in the narrative, which I hadn’t fully pieced together—though I had started to sense some of the larger twists coming.
I’m considering a re-read down the line, especially alongside a watch-through of the show, just to compare the two mediums and see how the story translates. Despite some structural quirks, it’s a memorable book that stands out for its blend of psychological drama and supernatural elements. Definitely a change of pace from the usual thrillers.
3.5/5

It went from 3 star to 5 star up until the last couple of chapters where Adele swaps her body with Louise. It became unrealistic and lost the plot but then when we hear Rob telling his side. My God, all was forgiven.
Minus 0.25 as it was a good premise but I can't give it a 5 star, sorry!

Crazy, twisted story! The ending of this book blew my mind.
It is the story of two women. One finds herself involved with a married man. His wife arranges to run into her and befriends her as if she doesn't know who she is. She inches her way into her life, all the while planting abusive events and images about her husband into the woman's head.
The wife has a long history of sleep issues and mental difficulties. When she was young, both her parents died in a house fire. She was sent to a rehab facility where she meets a young boy her age. They become close friends, although she is already dating the man she will someday marry.
The ending of this book is like no other. Really twisted ending. 5 stars.

3.5 stars. This book held my attention. I couldn't put it down because I just HAD to know what was going to happen. Then ending is a serious WTF ending you will NEVER see coming. Not sure I liked it. But as a whole this was a good book that's hard to put down.
