I really enjoyed this book. A different take on WW2 historical fiction. Set in France in Champagne area. One of the characters Inez was quite frustrating but the ending redeemed her. Reminded me that we all can make mistakes in a moment out of self preservation. I can’t imagine trying to survive during this time frame when you didn’t have instant information. I think the author researched her book very well and I’ll be looking to pick another book by her soon.
Champagne, France during WWII.. this book just appealed to my history reading self! The tension that builds through the story and the journey it takes you on? Well WELL written.

This is an incredible book! The reason it took me so long to read is that EVERY character in this book makes terrible decisions that you know are going to end up really bad. Nothing happy really happens in the book. But I kept reading because I got to know the characters and had to know what happened. I needed the answers to all the questions the book dropped throughout. I loved the back and fourth from the history and the common day. The twist at the end STUNNED me. Overall 100% worth the read and the adventure! I would give the book 4.5 stars if I could!
