Audiobook: couldn’t stop listening!

Going to give this a try at my father-in-law's suggestion.
adventurous slow-paced

4.8 I enjoyed this book far more than I expected. I picked it up as just something to read until my holds came through, but I couldn't put it down. The author isn't even the most skilled writer on the block, it's just a great story that makes the reader care for its characters.
Clan of the Cave Bear is a modern classic, and created the trend of adventure novels where the special protagonist defies the conventions and yada yada, but it's an excellent example of how these sort of plots became a cliche. It's compelling and escapist. I cared about Ayla and the clan. The ceremonies were climactic dramas, the cultures very alive.
The ending, the last few lines- wow. Not what I expected, and now it's completely burned into my brain. Credit where it's due.

I enjoyed the storyline and characters, even if there is doubt on the facts/historical inaccuracies.

I read this book when I was a teen-ager. I think I can still say it is my all time favorite book.
I named my first daughter Ayla after the main character.

I had almost zero knowledge of this book before reading it and it was not at all what I expected. I've never before thought about how Neanderthals interacted, but it's always interesting to see the age-old concept of "Others" and how people react when their way of life is challenged.

I read it, but I didn't love it... the language is anachronistic, the plot is predictable, and the character development left far too much desired. It gets three stars because I *technically* finished it, but I didn't have any alternates at the time, so it may have been because there was nothing else to read.

took a bit of getting through but in the end i couldn't wait for the next one. a truly inspirational journey of ayla.

I finished it this morning just as I pulled into work.
I share the same feelings as everyone I've ever met who read this work. I was dreadful! I loved it! I hate that I loved it! And now I need the second one.
By the way: Content Warning: Rape
I don't know. The slow parts were very slow. And I listened to it on Audio, by the way-- I didn't fast forward through bits of it like I did The Inheiritence Cycle. And what was good was really, really, good! I mean really very good!
I cried at Issa's death, there were parts I applauded, my blood boiled when Braud raped Aaylah, there were times when I felt the hair on my arms stand on end! But there were also times where I seriously considered turning it back into the library. Thus, three stars.
