I was honestly expecting more. I felt like the same problems just dragged on for pages unnecessarily and actually wanted more romance rather than just kissing.

I was pleasantly surprised by this!! This was a book I had been putting off for some time now. Regency romance books are not my favorite, so I typically avoid them. This on the other hand was so much fun! I had a great time with this!

I love a good period romance and this one did not disappoint. If you liked Bridgerton, you’ll probably enjoy this one.

I just finished this a few minutes ago and I haven’t had much time to sort out my thoughts, do bear with me. (And the possiblity that my rating will change in the next days or so, once I’ve thought about it more).

I loved this book! Just like stories about rakes and scoundrels, I am sucker for historical romances where the women are odd, or have too much independence to even think of marriage. I think I like this book because it had a few similarities with my favorite HR novel, The Devil in Spring.

I did feel like Evan is a bit flat, he didn’t seem to be written with enough convicting emotions to make me feel for him. Regardless, it was enjoyable and I found myself smiling at most of the banter scenes between him and August. It was also weird that it felt cut off shorter because there was no confrontations with August and her family to discuss the aftermath of Evan’s discovery of their ex-solicitor. Given the fuss August’s parents gave about the arrangement, I was surprised there wasn’t a scene for this.

Another thing, and possibly my biggest gripe about this book was the lack of Epilogue. I always look for epilogues in historical romances, I like seeing my characters live out a bit of happily everafter even if it’s just 3 pages long.

Nonetheless, I’m excited to read the next book in the series. It sounds interesting, and I hope to like it as much as I did this.

Great start, but the last part is rushed and cliché, as well as miedo with modern slang.

I was hoping there would be an interesting plot, but no. When the book went from boring with no unique plot to boring with no unique plot and gratuitous sex, I gave up.
