This ending was superrrr weak. I found that the majority of the drama happened with MAYBE 20 pages left. Why?? I feel like this book either could've moved a lot quicker, or been longer to account for everything that happened at the end.
I love a cute story like this but it could definitely have been better :(

This was fun. Loved the intelligent, independent August, and Evan, with his charm, honor, and just a hint of ruthlessness that was crushed by the end of the book. Watching him go from wanting August for her fortune to wanting her for herself was great, as was reading about August's attempts to make him choose someone else. I hated August's parents, but loved how fierce and loyal Violet, August's sister, was. I'm already intrigued for her book, as her hero is actually quite ruthless, more so than Evan ever was. Overall, I found this hard to put down. I'm always intrigued by an American/Britiish pairing. There was a little bit of needless drama, but in the end, I quite enjoyed the story.

There's nothing surprising about this book - British duke needs an influx of cash; American heiress's family is in London looking for an impoverished title; duke and heiress fall in love. That said, it is a really enjoyable take on the fortune hunter trope, despite the inevitable 3rd act breakup, and the fashion porn is ON POINT.

24-Word Summaries:

Meg: August loves her independence, so she’s not happy when her parents identify an impoverished duke who needs her cash. A perfectly-executed fortune hunter romance.

Laine: August has a ringside makeout with boxer who is actually a Duke. Duke needs to marry an heiress, August is one. The conflict is?

I loved this book!! Great story!! Loved august and Ivan!! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!! Love historical fiction books!!
