3.5 stars. This one was less good than the last, but just as wild. Also, Paul Slater is The Worst.
This is the best Mediator book so far! In the three previous books, it was always according to a model great times - ghost - a boy who wants to have a date with Suze (and is in some relation with that ghost) - ghost is beaten with some consequences to that boy. And of course there was Jesse, somewhere, usually telling Suze not to do something dangerous what she obviously does so he helps her. (And I mean every word of it in a good way, I enjoyed every single book.) But now, finally, Suze knows how she feels about Jesse, even if she doesn't want to admit it to anybody, and everything is so much clearer.
Darkest Hour was epic and I'm really crazy about The Mediator series! (Unfortunately I discovered it has just 6 books! Why does The Princess Diaries have like hundred and fifty books without any reason (because even in the 5th book, Mia's already totally annoying) and Mediator just 6?!)

Meg Cabot and these books have had a hold on my heart since I was in middle school and I’d be lying if I said they weren’t as good as I remember. Arguably, they’re better. The touch of nostalgia, the twists and turns, every character being great. Is this a literary classic? No. But it is one of my classics and it had me shrieking in glee at my dog multiple times because he’s the only one who tolerates me and this nonsense.
great series that makes you laugh and scares you and makes you feel hapy after you finish.

WHAAAAAAAAAAT??? Seriously what just happened in this book? books #1-3 feel bit too episodic and there is no real development, but, boy, did it change in book #4.
||Ooooh I forgot how much I hate Paul, ten years since I read this book the last time yet the second I read his name it all came flooding back. Paul is the most horrible person in this book and that is in comparison to the two lovely ghostly murderers we also have in this story. I mean letting your little brother thinking he's crazy when you know perfectly well he isn't, letting him get carted of to doctors see whats wrong with him when there isn't anything wrong with him. Also working with the bad guys and just being a general sleazy jerk. Jack is sweet, I mean the kid really seems to have had a sucky childhood and he has Paul as a brother so that cant be good, atleast though he seems to have some confidence in himself now, I hope he turned out okay. Jesse, well Jesse is the same as always, a little distant, a little sweet. Suze is kind of annoying, but just in the teenager who hasn't really got their brain to think all the way through problems and consequences yet. I mean did she really think it was acceptable to have an eight year old do some dodgy exorcism with chicken blood and a have to sit next to a half dead girl for thirty minutes. I have to say though those last few lines make up for anything else, the slow burn romance throughout these books, the will they wont they nature of their relationship. to have him make the move was just perfection||. Overall as an adult I can see several issue with this book but knowing how much my teen self loved it I cant really rate it any lower than 5 stars as that is the demographic the author was aiming at. I can also appreciate the story even if the writing itself is a little outdated.
