Better than the first book, but I feel the story falls prey to the tell don’t show plague of books. No inferences can be made about anything because the author just tells us everything. He is hesitant about the relationship because his wife left him and he feels like a failure because he is so responsible and should take care of his wife. Like we could’ve inferred that, readers are not that dumb 😭. The banter was genuinely funny though and I like that Luke was an actual kid and not some philosophical genius at 5.

Okay, okay - this book is definitely worth the hype! I’ve heard plenty about Daddy Cade so I was excited to read his and Willa’s story and it didn’t disappoint.

Cade is looking for a nanny for the summer to look after his 5 year old son, Luke. After turning down basically everyone who applies, Summer helpfully suggests her bestie, Willa, who is free whilst the bar she works at is renovated. It’s a winner for everyone on paper, but Cade couldn’t have foreseen the wildly inconvenient chemistry that sends all sorts of filthy thoughts about his much younger new nanny through his mind.

Cade was grumpy as all heck and I was here for it. He’s cynical and doesn’t trust easily after his cheating ex wife did a number on him. He’s also shouldered so much responsibility since his mum died when he was eight and it shaped the man he became. He rarely considers what he actually wants for himself.

Willa is 25 (to Cade’s 38) and living a pretty carefree life in the city, working the same bartender job since she was 18. She is a complete firecracker and I loved how she was unafraid to say what she thought. She has next to no filter, but she’s also got a really solid head in her shoulders. She’s fiercely loyal and seemingly fearless, but also paralysed by a fear of failure.

The steamy scenes between Cade and Willa were impeccable, from the first teasing interlude in the hot tub, to the hay bale kiss and then THAT first sex scene. Cade had the filthiest mouth and I was living for it. When he lets that side of himself free, it was ridiculously hot and Willa matched him step for step.
Will was such a support to Cade and wasn’t afraid to show him how much she wants him, and only him. I loved how much she lightened him. They really understand each other and lift each other up. The way their relationship unfolded just made my heart melt. Cade is an amazing dad but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the absolutely adorable instant connection between Willa and Luke.

I loved this so much! It was bringing all the heart, but with plenty of humour and heart melting moments. I had a little smile on my face throughout.

Addicting
Only thing I didn’t like was so much talking during spicy parts!!
But everything else was so good!
