This is a beautiful book - I listened to it on audio but I really want to purchase and annotate it. There are so many life lessons in this book and it has me very interested in researching Buddhism. I've always wanted to start meditating but this book has given me a push.
This book is heartwarming and heartbreaking.
I would definitely recommend this book.
(I did not rate it because I do not like rating someone's real life stories for the most part).

This book was as captivating as it was inspirational. Jarvis's story is a once hard to read and hard to put down, as one might imagine the story if a bodhisattva on death row might be. There is much to be learned here, no matter where you fall, spiritually. It has inspired me to learn more about mindfulness, and has renewed my practice of Stoic philosophy, as Buddhism and Stoicism share many key concepts. I can't remember when I have been so glad to have read a book, and am eager to read Jarvis's writing as well.

This is excellent! And ultimately uplifting. Sheff does a good job of providing relevant info and also presenting it at the right time. There are all sorts of additional detail or tangential directions he could have taken the reader. But he kept it "tight" and focused which helped keep my interest. You'll learn some Buddhism along the way too. Recommended.

Thanks very much for the ARC for review.
