The only mystery is where everyone's personalities are cause no one has one.

This can be read as a standalone, but a significant amount of time is spent on the plot of the main character - unrelated to the main story. It got distracting to me since I wasn't invested in him.

3.75 ⭐ Was quite a bit of mystery around whodunnit and I enjoyed the Sheriff. I would read the next one even if he is a fudge packard

Thank you to Libro.FM for my copy.

This was the second in a series and I didn’t realize that, but you don’t need to have read the first to jump into the series. It was easy to follow and I really enjoyed detective Prichard! I’ll definitely go back and read the first one after this.

This was one of my most anticipated books this year since [b:And There He Kept Her|63241003|And There He Kept Her|Joshua Moehling|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1668481849l/63241003._SX50_.jpg|91235405] was one of my favorite thrillers last year.
Ben Packard, gay acting sheriff extraordinaire, returns and we were able to get to see more of him as a person in this book, compared to the first in the series and I fell in love with him even more.

In a way, this could have been the first in the series, that I can now imagine becoming a lengthy police procedural series with a perfunctory thriller edge.

Stony Brookes town is shown to have an extremely wealthy community as well as a shady community and Ben is not only trying to solve a high profile murder, but his mentor and friend has passed and now he must decide if he should enter the race to become the official Sheriff in town.

This book captivated me from the start as it was not only full of thriller goodness, but it also contained the heart of what lays beyond Ben Packard.

Thank you PoisendPenPress for my gifted copy. Thoughts are my own.
