Is it messy, is it toxic? Yes. But I am really hooked by this series. Jessa’s writing is beautiful and these books are making me feel so many emotions.

TikTok made me start this series and I did enjoy the first one, but I struggled to get through this. There are no likeable characters bar Christian, and he’s still not a great person. In MP, Magnolia and BJ are so toxic that I rooted for them in the same way you root for Chuck and Blair. However, the miscommunication trope is *yawn* and therefore I wasn’t all that invested in Daisy and Christian. And don’t get me started on the insufferable footnotes. FAR too frequent and 99% of the time did not contribute anything to the story whatsoever. Best part of this was the MP chapter at the end, which made me ~consider- reading the next one but to be honest I’m not in a rush.

If all my fave Brits in these books could just learn how to COMMUNICATE, my goodness they would be totally normal (besides all the gang stuff of course).
First of all, I did NOT expect myself to become a Julian hater (*gasp* I know I know!!!). I thought he wasn’t like the other boys in this series, but in the end, he is just the same (if not worse), throwing caution to the wind and spewing things off to intentionally hurt people. ICYMI, Julian, kidnapping is BAD and you did the one thing Daisy asked you not to!!!! Julian’s last part in the book could be summed up in two sentences: “Oh no! The results of my own actions!” But unfort, no one in this series knows how to take accountability. Doesn’t mean I don’t eat it up though….
Secondly… oh Christian, my Christian! No one could make me hate you!! Golden retriever energy, just got pulled into the wrong girl’s orbit for a minute (looking at you, Magnolia). Speaking of Magnolia, I kind of get what Daisy is on about. She does kind of suck! No self awareness with that one. Also, the tiny snippet at the end of the book? Yuck! Team Tom!!!
And last but not least, Daisy. I honestly am a stan, even though the whole rotting-with-Romeo vibe was not it for me. The girl had all of her life’s trauma come down on her at the same time, so I see where she’s coming from. But still a bit insufferable.
Overall, I’m a big fan of this one. I def liked it more than MPU1, so I’m interested to see what comes about with the third book!
