I am in love with this series, and I know I shouldn’t be invested in more series because I honestly cannot keep up. But, if you’ve read the first book of this series, you’ll understand why it is so worth your time to read it. That being said, I am having a hard time finishing this book.

The main character? Oh man, she is problematic af. I used to like her voice but comes the second book, her voice is just annoying and I found myself wanting to slap herself silly. Like, I get she understands nothing, and she felt like she’s merely a pawn, but come the f on, stop being a know it all. We all know what horrible things would happen when one acts like a know it all.

So, yeah, story wise, this book is still as gripping, if not more, than the first one. I really felt like I’m at the end of my seat the whole time. Character wise? Damn, I can totally go by without having to listen to the inner voice of our dear main character.

But, and here’s where the book redeem itself. Yes, the main character was annoying this time around, but I can also feel the change in her as a character, that there was a sense of evolution from the first book to the second (though technically the timeline has not been far apart). It’s interesting to see a character evolution that made sense.

continuing off of the first in the series, this book kept up the pace and was very fun. i enjoyed the over arcing plot lines and their resolutions, and how there wasn't one 'Big Fight to solve Big Problem'. the only reason i gave a 4 star and not a 5 is that i felt like this book didn't feel like it's own book, but very much like a middle child.

the first 200 pages were pretty slow going but pushing through them was still worth it. vasya is such an amazing character! can't wait to see where her story goes <3

I need to process but if I could give this book more than five stars, I would. It's beautifully written with action and complex relationships. I love this one even more than the first.
