I read this to later give it to a student who is considering ministry. It did not disappoint!

For anyone who feels the Lord’s calling into ministry, this book states plainly and compassionately what is required in that calling.

As I've worked with several men entering into pastoral ministry and experiencing God's call to it is essential. It's been essential to me and has sustained me in difficult times when nothing else would suffice. There must be a solid bedrock of Divine call for a minister to survive and thrive, with all the challenges, struggles and heartaches ministry brings. There is both an inward and an outward aspect to the call. Some material makes too much of the inward aspect, reducing the call to only an individualistic, mystical experience. Other material focuses only on the outward call, possessing the proper qualifications and the support of the local church. Jason Allen here offers an excellent balance of both inward and outward call. He poses ten questions for the ministerial candidate to consider prayerfully. He draws upon the wisdom of legends such as Charles Spurgeon, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and Billy Graham. This book is a very well-written summary of how to know if God is calling you to ministry. I recommend it highly. I'll likely be giving it as a gift to future ministerial-minded men who come across my path.
