This book has a really interesting premise and I was intrigued at the beginning, but I slowly lost my interest in it as the story continued. I like the idea of mixing characters from classic novels in a new setting, and I love that it was Lucy Westenra and Bertha Mason here. I've always felt so badly for Lucy. Interesting premise but overall a bit lacking and almost simplistic.

If anything, this book reminded me how much I've always hated Mr. Rochester.

This was quite simply a really fun book to read. A definite contender to help people out of a reading slump, this sequel-slash-retelling-slash-mashup of Dracula and Jane Eyre’s forgotten women was just a delight to get through. Kiste delivers a punchy message on violence towards women with a familiar cast of characters and a supernatural twist that keeps things engaging while never detracting from the serious tone of it all. Ending got a little bit meandering but overall I have few complaints and would read more in the same vein in a heartbeat!
