“The gray tar climbs over everything, and Rochester falls to his knees, trying to pound it to dust, but there’s just too much now. Too much of the decay from me and Bee, the things they put inside us.”
this book has everything you could want: gothic horror elements, a fast-moving plot, queerness, revenge. most of all, this is a story about using the trauma that men inflict upon women against them, all their despicable actions backfiring. in this case, that trauma is the decay that Lucy and Bee hold within them, that bring them shame and disgust toward themselves for eternity. but these selfish men never think about how the way they hurt women will come back around.. they’re only focused on themselves and i love how this story unraveled to show the power that they accidentally gave to these women destroy them in the end.
that was a rant lol but my only qualm is the writing itself can be repetitive at times but i was entertained from the beginning!

It was good, but nothing to fawn over by any means. I always love a good feminine rage book, but this one fell short quite a bit. All in all, 2.5 rounded up to 3. Too many unanswered questions for side characters.
