PS I Like You

Kasie West

3.89 AVERAGE

I first read this book about two years ago. I haven't reread a Kasie West book before, and I was glad that I got the same fluffy cute vibes the book gave me the first time.

Yes, this book had all of it's tropes, but I think it was written well. There was drama, boys, fighting between the girl and the best friend but I think that's pretty realistic as far as high school goes. Teenagers aren't perfect.

I loved the hate to love trope here. It wasn't instant, the letters helped Lily and Cade develop a friendship instead of instantly falling in love. I liked Cade a lot and was glad when the book ended how it did. (I'm trying not to spoil it here.) I also liked the fact that Lily was a song writer. The family dynamics was nice in the book too.

I still gave this book a five star read. It's perfect if you need a break from fantasy or even just finding new reads all the time.

WHY CAN'T REAL LIFE BE MORE LIKE KASIE WEST'S BOOKS?

Kasie West's writes the best feel-good books, and this one is one of the best ones yet. Why? Because it kept me up all night, I never put the book down not even for a single second.
Over the past few years I've read quite a few books by her and never have I been disappointed with her books. Ok, not never there was one book that I did not tolerate at all, but I won't talk about that.

The author has a magical ability of some sort, she turns a teen cliché story into a cute, adorable and feel-good book. Almost all of her books are similair to each other and the reader (me) knows what will happen, but still pretends to be ''surprised'' by the outcome.

Anyway, I'm stopping with my babblings (it's because I haven't written a proper review in so long, that I forgot how it is to write a real one).

The author writes the best teen books and always manages to thrill me with her stories and the characters.

Did I learn something useful from this book? No
Was the main character relateable? Very much so.
Was the romance unrealistic yet extremely adorable? Yes
Are Kasie's books becoming a guilty pleasure of mine? Indeed.
And most importantly: Hate to love trope? You know it! :)

Hope you enjoy this weird review!

3.5 stars. Penpal enemies-to-lovers romances are just the cutest!

I enjoyed this protagonist and story far more than Lucky in Love. I loved how both the hero and heroine learned that they’d been operating off false assumptions about each other, and worked to unpick that.

I was also really interested in Lily’s busy family situation. Kasie West did a good job of building a sense of chaos and claustrophobia in that house - it was tiring thinking about how Lily never got downtime! I wish the parents had stepped in and had a teachable moment about giving their older kids space, though.
fast-paced

Guys my heart😭💖

I really enjoyed this book . It was a cute love story and a very easy light read . I liked all the characters and adored Lilly's family .

In the midst of reading Very Big™ and Very Smart™ novels, I have to break it up with some fluff, and what better fluff than something I know I liked in the past? I read this a few years ago, likely around the time it came out because, as a teenager, I was a certified Kasie West stan. I now realize the earliest I could've read this would've been when I was 20, as it did not come out until 2016, so that throws my whole "reading for teenage nostalgia" motive out the window (but when did I ever need a *reason* to read YA novels?).

Like all KW books, they just hit the spot. They're nothing special, but they create a world in which my deepest, darkest desires come true... aka, I start writing lyrics to an obscure indie song I love on a desk in chemistry class, and the hottest boy in school happens to sit in that same seat in another period (but I don't know that it's the hot boy that I also happen to hate on principle because I am NOT a mainstream girl), and he just happens to know that obscure song, which is totally out of character because he's hot and plays baseball, so he finishes the lyrics and we start a months-long back-and-forward until the truth comes out and we're totally meant to be.

I'm not sorry for that trainwreck of a sentence at all. May no fantasy hold my head up, may no memory fold my head in, and may I never stop reading YA that pours salt in all my teenage trauma wounds.

These two are adorable!

Back when I read this, I loved it and that is why I am giving the Queen Kasie West a 4/5 stars.

This is very cheesy and contemporary, but that was what I was in the mood for last night. Yeah I said last night because I started reading this at 11pm and finished at 1am. I finished this so fast just because I wanted to know how it ended. This story was a bit predictable overall nothing surprising at all. It was a cute story though and a quick read.
