Don't talk to me or my hate to love pen pals ever again.
While spacing out in chemistry class, Lily writes a favorite song lyric on the desk. She doesn't think anything of it until the next day she sees someone has continued the lyrics and wrote her a message. Soon Lily and her anonymous pen pal are sharing secrets, recommending bands, and getting closer, all while Lily finds herself falling for him. As Lily tries to figure out the mystery, she has to deal with her crazy family, best friend, her crush, and a song-writing contest.
I loved Lily, her love of music, and her deserve to create it. I also loved her relationship with her wild and wacky family. It was just so pure and wholesome but still not cheesy. It was just nice, and that rabbit was the cutest.
I would say the mystery of the pen pal isn't really a mystery but it doesn't take away any enjoyment, in my opinion. I'm so, so glad it was who I thought it was and the romance in this book was so fluffy and adorable, and their banter was great. There were some events in here that were just so silly and way too high school (the mean girl and whatever she was doing in here) but the romance made it for me and I loved this book so much.

“Oh, also, if Mr. Ortega catches me writing you this letter, I am committed to shoving it in my mouth and swallowing. I hope I can count on the same commitment from you.”I've probably said this before (and probably said that before too, who knows) but this is my actual favorite Kasie West book to date, and the first one I have rated 5 stars. This book sets up a couple of tropes that I love, and then it does them so well. Maybe it was just my mood, or the fact I had read some really awful romances before this book but this one gave me everything I wanted.

Lily is probably my favorite Kasie West MC. Just sayin'.
What can I say other than I absolutely love every book that Kasie West has written. I especially loved this one because it was chemistry, Arizona, and alternative music all wrapped in to one and i can't imagine a book that was more attuned to my likes. Definitely my favorite of her books so far (On The Fence is a close second)!
Even though it's a new release, the book has an old school YA feel. I really enjoyed it, especially Lily's family. My only complaint is the ending was too abrupt. This is the first book I've read from Kasie West, but it won't be my last.
Rereading this book just made me love it even more. I loved all of the song lyrics. They're really catchy when I put a tune with them in my mind. Lily is so scared of submitting her song into the contest. I already knew who the mysterious pen-pal is. Rereading the book again made me look at more of the clues and stuff.
I love that Lily didn't This is one of the best Kasie West I've ever read. I highly recommend picking up this book.

Lily Abbot is the kind of awkward person who doesn't have many friends, who stays lost in a world of lyrics and melodies, a world of color and music. Oh, and she hates Chemistry. All she does in the class is write lyrics, design dresses, and occasionally writes on the table. So one day when someone completes the lyric she had written on the table, she is pleasantly surprised. The person becomes her pen-pal, and they keep communicating through letters tucked under the desk. The letters become the highlight of every day. They become really good friends (or pen-pals) - sharing secrets, song recommendations back and forth. Lily feels like she really wants to know the identity of this letter-writer who has clouded all of her thoughts.
This book is a sweet high-school romance. It was interesting, kind of surprising, and I can kind of picture it as a movie, because so many things are happening to the character - her songwriting, her crazy family, her mortal enemy at school, the mystery note-writer...
The dialogue was great, and the book features some beautifully written lines, songs, and letters, which I feel like is reason enough to read it. I enjoyed the letters which were exchanged between Lily and the other person, and I absolutely loved the songs that Lily writes towards the end.
I liked the songwriting aspect of the book. I think that's what drew me to the character, that she is a songwriting who has never completed a song. I feel like in most books, the person with the artistic talent is so... genius with it, and even though Lily is a great lyricist, this was a little... comforting to know?
People who like classic romance novels and the enemies-to-lovers thing would find his interesting. Also is it okay to say that readers who like cliché can go for this one? (This book isn't cliché but...)
