I don't know why I didn't give this book five stars! It had all the potential! I loved the couple, I loved the backstory, I loved the sideline characters.... I guess, to quote Abby Lee Miller "You were good, I'm waiting for you to be great." because that's what it felt like to me. This book could've been higher rated, but I felt like the writing style was cringey at times and it had the potential for an amazing book and it ultimately fell flat. I still enjoyed it, but I think I would've enjoyed it more if it had a sequel or something.

The 2 main characters are so adorable together - the romance isn't cringe or overly spicy. I feel like sometimes it does get a bit repetitive,
especially when Meredith keeps talking about how she misses her sister or how this reminds her of this, but overall it is just true to her character.

I wrote 'it's complicated' for 'is the cast of characters is diverse' because only the background characters are unique. Meredith and Wit are quite stereotypical, but they are still written well.
Also, the Taylor Swift references weren't as prominent as I was expecting - there could always be more ;) But whenever I saw them, it just really lifted the book ✨

The first half of this was so sweet and swoony, while also touching on some grief that Meredith and her family are coming out of- literally so good!! But I really don’t like the miscommunication trope, and the YA nature of this book came out in full force in the immaturity in Mer and Wit’s communication closer to the end of the week. But I adore their relationship and enjoyed the atmosphere of Martha’s Vineyard, with the added backdrop of the assassin game (one I have played too). I wish Mer had more character development as she came to terms with her grief. And I also hated Luli and she made me angry. This closed door, new adult/YA romance was a great summer read.

Overall this was an enjoyable read. It was, at times, a bit cringey for me, but I’m pretty particular about my romances, so that is not necessarily an indicator of quality 😂 I really loved Wit’s character, and the backdrop of the Assassin game brought a really unique quality to the book.

4.25 ⭐️ Such a perfect summer read. Light hearted, but still has meaning due to a heavy theme of grief. It actually was the first book I've cried from in years, but overall it's just fun! I loved how K.L. Walther set the scene and described family members. The family tree she put at the beginning really helped, since there were quite a few characters in the book. I wish I could go to Paqua!

A good summer read! I liked the big family dynamics and the setting. The romance was cute but a bit rushed, I think.
The amount of Taylor Swift references made me feel like I was reading in a secret language.

Read For:
Beach Read
Good Humor
Hurt/Comfort
Amazing Setting
Lovable Characters

I wasn't sure I'd like this or not since straight romance can be a little hit or miss for me but since I read this author's work before, I gave it a shot and I'm happy I did.

This was so cute and wholesome and the perfect summer read/beach read.  It gives the best vacation kind of vibes too.  The detail that was put into the setting was done so well.  While this was really lighthearted and fluffy it still dealt heavily with grief with the MC and her working through the loss of her sister all the while having to be back to a place that brought up old memories.  This was written really nicely.

Overall, if you want to read about a wholesome family playing assassin while at their vacation home for a family members wedding then I suggest this for you.
