This was a super cute read. 1/5 spicy, behind closed doors. The Assassin plot CARRIED and was incredibly fun, I literally wanted to play. This book had loveable characters, such as the FMC and MMC. It made me cry and laugh, overall was a good read.

I am not a big Taylor Swift fan, so that was a miss for me and the ending felt a bit rushed but definitely a HEA.

The Summer of Broken Rules is a perfect new-adult summer read. The Fox-Dupre family was extremely lovable and the coastal setting really added an idyllic touch to the book. The excitement of Assassin really increased the intrigue. Although it contained one of my least favorite tropes,
(I hate when boys get in the way of friendships)
it treated the combination of whirlwind romance and grief so beautifully and realistically. Even the epilogue felt genuine, which I rarely feel. The connection between Wit and Meredith was lovely and I loved reading about the two of them and the Fox-Dupre family.

4.25 ⭐️ Such a perfect summer read. Light hearted, but still has meaning due to a heavy theme of grief. It actually was the first book I've cried from in years, but overall it's just fun! I loved how K.L. Walther set the scene and described family members. The family tree she put at the beginning really helped, since there were quite a few characters in the book. I wish I could go to Paqua!

This was a super fun summer read. Definitely made me miss summers when I had very little responsibilities.  It also made me wish for my own compound to host friends & family. I definitely loved the giant game of assassin and how nearly everyone got involved. That’s goals.

I wish the characters were aged up just a smidge - like maybe 2 years? I think it would have made more sense.

Good Humor

Amazing Setting
Lovable Characters

I wasn't sure I'd like this or not since straight romance can be a little hit or miss for me but since I read this author's work before, I gave it a shot and I'm happy I did.

This was so cute and wholesome and the perfect summer read/beach read.  It gives the best vacation kind of vibes too.  The detail that was put into the setting was done so well.  While this was really lighthearted and fluffy it still dealt heavily with grief with the MC and her working through the loss of her sister all the while having to be back to a place that brought up old memories.  This was written really nicely.

Overall, if you want to read about a wholesome family playing assassin while at their vacation home for a family members wedding then I suggest this for you.
