Let me start off by saying, I love Teddy. Everyone needs a Teddy in their life. The fact that she knows Emmy’s sensory issues and takes it into consideration in every interaction is amazing. Moving on! I loved this story between Emmy and Luke, I think the development between them was written so well and paced perfectly. I saw people saying this was a slow-burn romance but it just was not for me. Luke Brooks being a possessive, protective, and dominant man was everything I needed and more; had me giggling and kicking my feet the entire time. My only other issue was Emmy’s accident being the sole reason we got this story and it not being more of a focus,
like she doesn’t even open up to her family.
But overall, I loved this story, it was a short and easy read. I’m very very excited to read the rest of the series!

With all the hype it has on BookTok, I expected to like this book more, but it was just okay to me. It was a quick read, which is great, but the writing felt repetitive and bland. I felt that the characters were mentioning things that weren't important to the story; it felt like the author was in a hurry to meet a deadline and needed to reach the word count quickly.

I didn't feel any real sparks between the two leads. The scenes were smutty, and there was obvious sexual attraction between them, but I have a hard time believing they loved each other by the end of the book. If they had developed a crush years prior or had hooked up once before, then I could believe this is a continuation of that, but them falling in love all of a sudden after knowing each other for years didn't make too much sense. At least not in the way it was written.

(spoilers)

The plot was lost behind the romance. In the beginning, we were told Emmy has ADHD, so to see it only be represented as being messy seems like a missed opportunity. It's also mentioned many times that she suffers from panic attacks and PTSD from her riding accident and that appears to be resolved in like 5 mins after she has a hunky guy help her out. I liked Emmy, but I would have liked her even more if we had focused more on her life and career rather than her secret lust for Luke. And Luke wearing nothing but muscle tees gave me the ick, but I get that's just a me thing.
I'm a sucker for a good small town romance it sucks that i couldn't get into this one. I did like Wes, so maybe I'll read the second book? (If I'm bored enough) But all this book did was remind me that sometimes it's okay to DTF a book.
