The Assassin's Blade

What a beginning to a, what I can only assume, fantastic series.
Assassin's Blade has everything you could want in a book and more.
Betrayal, love, possessiveness, control, power & revenge.
The five short stories seamlessly tell the overall story well. They intertwine in a cohesive way & it is easy to follow.

The beginning was a little bit of a slow burn, but the pace picks up quickly. I read Assassin's Blade first & I enjoyed it. I cannot wait to continue the series.
The only two downsides I have is, Calaena is meant to be the BEST Assassin, at the very LEAST the SECOND best in the continent & yet, she failed numerous times. The predictability of Sam, I could sense the second he was mentioned. Nevertheless, it was still painful.

Each story was a pinnacle point of character development. Although, she never really learnt much from the lessons. It simply added fuel to her existing fire. We will see what is in store for her next.

Kind of a coda as a prequel to the throne of glass, it’s fine.

Loved following Calaena through her time in Rifthold. I felt the second book The Assassin and the Healer was least interesting although appreciated it for some of her character arc in the end.
