I think this book will haunt me for a while. (And that is a compliment to the storytelling within it.) There’s a debate on reading this book 1st or 3rd, and I read it 3rd obviously. I can see the merits to either choice; however, since I have already gotten to know Celaena in two books, this book so much more devastating to read. This is a collection of novellas distrust, love, and solitude.

I often struggle to read prequels as it can feel like an author is just hitting check boxes on things that have already been established to occur. But this felt much more robust. It does seem like an awful lot has happened to Celaena in two years though. Poor kid probably needs a nap.
