Good, but not as good as the ones written by the original author L.J. Smith. I prefer how Smith wrote the characters and how she was planing on pairing everyone, I feel like they were a bit out of character in all the books in the “Hunters” part of the series. Wish I would’ve known Smith didn’t write these books before I purchased, still worth the read to see how the story finish. I heard Smith wrote FanFiction to finish up the series how she planned though, I’m going to try and hunt those books down.

The reveals in this book! ||When you find out Katherine is Elena’s sister, serios OMG moment||. May I say again ||POOR MATT, please give the guy a break, every time he gets the tiniest glimmer of happiness they promptly rip it away||. I was so sad about ||Meredith's brother||. I enjoyed this book though it did still have that slightly disjointed feeling in parts. I'm glad ||Klaus is gone and we finally find out whats been going on with caroline since the timeline changed||. Everything seems resolved and I am wondering what on earth they will throw at us in the next book.

Well the books definitely got better with the new author. Sorry dear Smith Fans but her writing was really not that good, at least for my preference and so much made no sense.

Right at the start, supernatural can't kill Elena but supernatural induced can? What kind of logic is that? Klaus ripping her throat out? No. Klaus using a kitchen knife to cut it open? Yes. Makes no sense but okay.
Damon's outbreak here also made no sense, if it had been induced by something else okay but simply because Elena did, what was to be expected?
Also Bonnie and Zander breaking up was also very unneccessary but at least they got back together and I am really really glad that they found each other.

Getting Caroline and Tyler in felt a little forced, like "ah look, they got better and a happy ending" and I bet they will never be mentioned again.
What also gets annoying is how so many things get repeated so often like we get it, Elena's hair is so golden that even gold wouldn’t look like gold anymore and her eyes so blue that blue itself doesn't look blue anymore. And we get it they have been to the Dark Dimension, Meredith is a hunter and Old Ones are so so dangerous, I was actually there (reading it) when they got that knowledge. Of course sometimes reminding the reader of things is okay, maybe even needed but every single book? I don't know maybe I am being a bit too annoyed with it as I just don't like the series. It got better, yes but book EIGHT and on is a bit late to get good, seeing that if I hadn’t every book already I would have probably dropped this.

For some reason I am glad that Katherine got back and they could make peace somehow? Was it neccessary and needed? No. But it was still nice.

I also think Chloe's death was very unneccessary but hey, what's done is done.

I felt like this could have been a nice ending but as I heard the company behind these books isn't pro-story but pro-money and I have three more books on my shelf so I know this very fitting and good ending isn't really the end so I guess I will find out, what the true ending will be.

Bonus: I somehow like the link between Elena and Damon I just hope this won't backfire, as in that the publishing company gets the thought that maybe it would be fun to get Damon obsessed with Elena AGAIN and not accepting no AGAIN.

Slightly better than the others? Maybe just because the secret Elena backstory is so hilarious and not resolved at all?

Review - This was by far my favourite in the Vampire Diaries series. There was a distinct similarity with Twilight which, for me, prevented it getting a higher rating. The series possibly would have been better without the Return trilogy in the middle as I felt that those books lost it a bit. Overall, however, an excellent ending. The twist at the end with Katherine and Elena (not to spoil anything!) I didn't see coming. I love how Elena finally made her decision, and just wished she could have made it much earlier in the series. I also loved how Elena embraced her destiny and realised that she couldn't be 'normal'.

Genre? - Fantasy / Romance

Characters? - Elena Gilbert / Stefan Salvatore / Matt Honeycutt / Damon Salvatore / Bonnie / Meredith / Klaus / Katherine

Setting? - U.S.A.

Series? - Vampire Diaries #10

Recommend? - Maybe

Rating - 14/20
