I think this is the weakest book in the series so far. There are a whole cast of characters that we don't really know why we ate following these characters. It take until about half way through for you to understand a little more. I didn't like the story line for one of the characters.

However, just like all of Chambers' books, this was very reflective book. I really like this part of her stories.

I am having a hard time thinking of a good way to review this book, Becky's writing and her stories feel so unique.

I guess the main thing I can say is that it felt like a real breath of fresh air to read something in the SF/F genre that did not involve war or fighting or some large doom and gloom quest (don't get me wrong that's a lot of the SF/F I read and I love it but this was a very nice change).

This is a book about people and their small moments and their big ones and I really enjoyed it.

I loved getting a better understanding of the Exodus Fleet and the Galactic Commons in general, though I admittedly felt less invested in many of these characters. Still, I will read every one of these novels. They are a delight and do what good sci-fi should do: make you think about contemporary circumstance in a new way.
