This is one of those series for me that is greater than the sum of its parts. I enjoy each entry just fine but when I think of it as a whole I have a lot of warm feelings
Something about the themes made me really reluctant to push forward. A good book, just not a good book for me.

This is probably my favorite Becky Chambers book. It's darker than the others, but also the most meaningful to me.
Chambers gets a little experimental here, abandoning the group dynamics and plot engine of her previous two books respectively. The result is something like a worldbuilding travelogue, focusing on a constellation of vastly different humans as they question why they live how they live. It's a meditative read, but I enjoyed it. On a visceral level, Chambers writing made me tear up and get frisson multiple times.
Great sci-fi for people who like the Great British Bake-Off. Stakes are low and characters are lovable and gentle.

This book had no substance beyond world building. I was 75% through when I realized there was no real plot. The characters were easily forgettable.
