There are too many similarities between this book and White Hot Kiss, most especially the scenes at the start of the book (beginning scene started at a resto/fast food, fmc gets trapped in an alley and met the evil character). Not sure which was published first, but I think JLA tried to tried to write this first and realized it was not that good so she ended up writing another story (White Hot Kiss) to make it somehow better. Or perhaps this is sort of the multiverse of WHK if Zane ended up with Layla. Mind you, this was marketed as YA novel, but it should be NA.

I guessed all of the major plot twists so that’s why I’m giving it a 3.5. It was still a really good read and I enjoyed it! But I wasn’t as shook as I could’ve been.
