they finally got me girls. this was not that good and nothing happened and i do not understand exy but. i did like the characters and i will finish the series because it’s all for the game. i like neil a lot that’s my diva now i have to stick with him

This book is objectively horrible but I am too attached to the characters to not like it
EDIT: I take back that statement. It’s not a bad book, it is in fact almost a work of genius. The fact that the foxes and their stories have effected me so viscerally? That’s a mark of a good book. I’m not gonna be pretentious, if a book has such a huge effect on me, it’s a good book.
This is my emotional support novel, just because no matter how bad I am doing, the foxes are doing exponentially worse

I fear I can't be very objective about these books. I know, technically, that this is a two-star book. However. However. It's a 5-star experience. It's unserious, it's borderline trauma porn, there's yakuza mentions, and a made-up sport? But I read these books for the first time during one of the most stressful and depressing years of my life and it had the effect of giving too much sugar to a kid. I love the characters, and the pacing of the story, I'm deeply obsessed with the dynamics of every single character in this and I LOVE how funny this is. The type of funny that is so absurd that makes me laugh out loud. Neil is so fucking funny in this book I swear to God. I will probably be re-reading these yearly forever, but alas. Nora Sakavic is an insane motherfucker and I would love to grab a coffee with her.

3 star for the first 3/4 of the book, 3.5 for the last quarter. Feel like book 2 will pick up quite a bit.
