this book/series feels like a wattpad story but found family goes straight to my heart and i couldn't stop until i finished the books

Well this was bad.
And boring.
Not to mention ridiculous.
Don‘t get me started on the representation of psychopharmacology, no scratch that, ANYTHING psychology related.
My personal pet peeve is the author not knowing German but throwing it in the book for the sake of making it more interesting. Why did I liked this series? I guess it’ll continue to get the hype.

I know it’s criticised for using the r-slur. Would I prefer it not to be in there? Yes. But the way I see it, you can’t blame the characters for using it since it’s the tone and theme of the book. Like the TV show shameless, if you’re comming for their language, you should not watch it.

3-3.5

Unrealistic and problematic but it was interesting. Gonna continue with the series to see what happens next.

Ooooh I'm getting invested!! Their stories are so complicated and unknown, and also this game sounds so fun so I cant wait to read the next one. This writing style and editing got to me at times, so heres to it possibly improving? In all honesty I actually think it adds to the charm and mood of the book.

march 2025- i can’t believe i didn’t come back to them last year at all?? but they’re still so fresh in my mind. i missed them all. excited for the golden raven

At first, I couldn't get into this one. I am a lover of sports, but the description of Exy is a little confusing so I couldn't really understand how the game was played. Thankfully, it goes beyond the sport to explore the lives of the characters in a way that is both satisfying and yet makes me yearn for more. I have already purchased the second book of the series and am eager to get it started. Definitely recommend this one, but have patience with it - the more you read, the better it gets!

This was a ride. What the fuck is happening.
What I appreciate the most is that Neil in his head teases at backstory but then we don't have to wait the whole book for the reveal. Chapter 1 he just goes "yea my dad took a guy apart in front of me" and then the rest of the book he just reveals a fuckload of other stuff in every chapter. I didn't feel strung along and that was great.
Reading this fell a bit into a reading slump so I didn't appreciate it the way i should have (i think this would hit best when read in one or two days) but I already have the second book out from the library and I'm very excited.
