I had this on my bookshelf for a few months until I saw an amazing tiktok edit about this book on my fy and immediately started reading it. I do not regret it.
the characters are all crazy and psychotic but thats what I need right now, I guess.. It was more than enjoyable to read about them.
the storyline is really unique, I mean who mixes sports and mafia? loved every moment tho.
only things that bothered me are:
1. the writing (this book would be so much better if the writing were on top) but it wasn’t thaaat bad, just some scenes would be better if more carefully developed or better written out.
2. the plot only really started towards the end, the rest of the book felt like a loong introduction BUT I think thats what I needed to bond with the characters. many books go straight for the action, but now being able to first get to know the characters and then getting to the action made this better for me to like the characters. so its not really a bad point for me, but I understand if its for others.
ANYWAYS I started loving Neil when the interview began.. ICON!! and Andrew is definitely my fave for now! I already ordered the next book and am excited to read it!

this book is quite absurd and every one is so mentally insane and i spent 80% of this time wondering who i’m even suppose to ship while ppl giggled at me from the sidelines bc they’re omniscient it seems… also spent the other 20% hating andrew but now that’s my pookie. sidenote i’m ignoring how short everyone canonically is like be fr

Non è un libro perfetto, ma Neil è diventato mio.
Avrò pianto minimo dieci volte leggendo la sua storia, e ogni volta mi spezza il cuore sempre di più.
L’unica cosa che ancora non mi è tanto chiara è questo sport come funziona, ma me lo immagino tipo l’hockey sul parquet e funziona bene. Anche se non mi è del tutto chiaro ho trovato le scene del gioco veramente interessanti, speravo ci fossero altre partite talmente mi sono piaciute. L’autrice è stata molto brava nel descrivere il gioco e i personaggi, sono tutti diversi e interessanti a modo loro.
Ora, a parte Neil che amo e Kevin che mi fa pietà, gli altri personaggi mi stanno un po’ sui coglioni eh. Matt, Dan e Renee sono dolcissimi, però Andrew LO ODIO!
So che lui e Neil si mettono insieme, ma com’è possibile a me sta sui coglioni quel nano malefico!! Vedremo se qualcosa cambia nel secondo libro…però per ora preferirei che Neil si mettesse con qualcun altro.
La trama è accattivante e lo stile di scrittura mi è piaciuto, so che alcune persone hanno trovato i dialoghi confusi però io li trovo abbastanza semplici da capire.
Unica pecca forse l’ho trovato un po’ corto, sembra solo un’introduzione alla storia “vera” e trovo che verso la fine le cose inizino veramente ad ingranare.
Detto questo lo consiglio, non si riesce a staccarsi dalle pagine!

I picked this series up for entertainment and entertainment only, and this book did the trick. Out of all three it was definitely the most middle of the road, but it still got me through my slump.
like every year i see something on tumblr or online somewhere about these stupid freaks and then have to reread the series immediately it’s like crack or a song you can’t get out of your head when you’re reminded of it
